Project Details

An hour outside the gates of Yosemite National Park sits two remote telecommunications sites that support critical 4G/5G infrastructure for the surrounding area. The evolution of the telecommunications framework mandated a parallel evolution in the indispensable off-grid power systems at these locations. Tasked with implementing these power system upgrades, NewGrid undertook the installation of cutting-edge power processing equipment, a state-of-the-art supercapacitor energy storage system, and the reconstruction of the solar arrays.

Removal and replacement of lead-acid batteries with modern energy storage systems at telecommunications sites is becoming more commonplace with each passing year. The new system infrastructure is estimated to perform optimally for 20 years before needing replacement, which is a 5 x reduction in energy storage replacement costs over those years.
