- What initially led you to seek an off-grid solar solution with NewGrid Power?
- Our current system was not working properly. It never did from the beginning of installation. The system we had was not large enough to accommodate our needs or keep batteries charged. The installer underestimated what we needed and was not as knowledgeable about solar as perceived. Customer service was a nightmare and even non-existent. We would lose power very often and our back-up generator was not large enough to boost the system. It was only enough to keep the system running. And, many times we had to manually start and stop the generator. We had system issues the first year it was installed and continually even though it was not that old. We had to contact the manufacturer many times to troubleshoot. Our batteries leaked and we needed new just after a couple years. We did learn a ton about solar power; more than we ever expected to. We also think it’s important to know as much as you can about solar since you will have your own system. So, we searched online for reputable solar companies close to us to install a new system. Thankfully we found NewGrid to be a solution for us. At the time, there were not a lot of good quality solar companies installing systems for off-grid properties.

We definitely recommend it! The team was very neat and clean regarding set-up of the equipment and the completion.

- No power outages! We have benefited from the technology the system provides. We have had some storms and cloudy days, but the system handles those days well. The back-up generator does its job. What little maintenance needed, we have done ourselves. As NewGrid stated when we hired them, the system is designed to work without constantly calling NewGrid employees to fix or repair issues. NewGrid installs the proper size system and what you need from the beginning to avoid constant customer service. When living off-grid it’s important to be self-sufficient and the quality and reliability of product is a large component.

- Can you share a specific example of how the system has positively impacted your life or operations?
- The system has positively impacted our lives and operations because we have less stress and worry checking the system to make sure it’s working. We are more comfortable the system is doing what it’s supposed to allowing us time to do more projects or even relax. We had one power outage from a storm in which our tablet read-out disappeared. But, we researched online and set it back up and installed the App on our phones. The App makes it possible to see what is happening when traveling or even when running errands. With our old system we were constantly manually checking the status. We would check it daily and sometimes several times a day to see if we would lose power. A lot of times we would put off a task because of how much power it would take. The old system could not handle the AC in the summer, so we would need to adjust the temperature every night as to not lose power in the early morning hours and need to run the generator for several hours. With the high summer temperatures, sleeping was uncomfortable and even a lack of sleep on the regular was not what you want because of your solar system. With the NewGrid install, we have not needed to do that. We have a set temperature and no issues. We check the system status periodically just to see what it’s bringing in, etc. We have not put off tasks because we know the system can handle it.

- Would you recommend NewGrid Power to others? If so, why?
- Yes and we have! We have also put a great review on Google. We have recommended them to surrounding neighbors who live off-grid because we have not had issues with our system. We believe NewGrid knows solar technology well and installs a very good product. They also seem to keep up with what is new and works best within the solar industry. The NewGrid team was very good installing and when we had questions, they were very helpful. We plan on building another structure on our property and will definitely have NewGrid install the solar power to it.
