Project Details

Thirty miles off  the Pacific Coast of Panama is an off-grid Eco Island Adventure Resort fully supported by solar, battery, and generators with no utility connection. Prominently featured in major publications like Condé Nast Traveler, the resort has beoame a desirable vacation spot for A-list clientele.  Originally opening for business in 2018, the power system’s lead-acid battery bank, though operational, proved undersized and posed challenges to the seamless operations of the island.

Initially brought in as technical consultants to advise on system improvements, NewGrid was tasked with managing system-wide communications upgrades and installation/commissioning of 2 megawatt hours of lithium ion energy storage. Completed in two stages in 2022, the system upgrades have dramatically improved reliability of the off-grid power system, which supports dozens of guests and a staff of 150. Construction of additional housing for guests and staff, the resort will further  expand its offerings in years to come.
