The challenge

A DIY setup that needed to become a real system.

After years of van life, this couple bought raw wilderness at the foot of the Dragoons and built their dream home. The temporary power setup a tradesman had wired for their RV was never designed to grow into a house — and none of it was permitted.

What we built

A permitted system, reusing what worked.

In mid-2024 NewGrid redesigned the system around the equipment worth keeping, added energy storage, inverter capacity, and solar, and ran the whole job — design, permitting, commissioning — in six weeks.

System specs
  • 15 kW solar
  • 55.5 kWh Fortress eVault Max lithium battery
  • 24 kW Sol-Ark inverters
  • 14 kW propane generator
  • 120/240V split phase
The outcome

An off-grid vision, made permanent.

A fully permitted off-grid home that matches how its owners actually live: 15 kW of solar, 55.5 kWh of Fortress lithium, 24 kW of Sol-Ark inverters.
