How big does a site need to be for a microgrid?

Size matters less than complexity. Multiple buildings, three-phase equipment, water pumping, or uptime you'd lose money without: any of these puts you in microgrid territory. A single cabin doesn't need one. A working ranch headquarters might.

Do microgrids still use generators?

Usually, yes. Solar and storage carry the daily load; generators cover extended weather and maintenance windows. Owners typically see generator run-hours drop sharply, which is where the fuel and maintenance savings live.

Can you turn our existing off-grid system into a microgrid?

Often. We assess what you have, keep what's worth keeping, and engineer around it. If the original install was botched, that's our specialty.
