This Grand Canyon tourist destination sits 30 miles from the nearest utility water source. An off-grid pumping system built in 2014 was hobbled from the start by a budget-constrained, undersized lead-acid bank that failed within four years — putting the site back on trucked water and generator fuel.

NewGrid ran a full site evaluation alongside the original system designer in early 2022, then fortified the system: 400 kWh of lithium iron phosphate storage, improvements to the existing solar arrays, and upgraded distribution and communications.

Since the 2022 commissioning, the site meets its full pumping demand without the generator, and NewGrid monitors every system component in real time under an ongoing operations and maintenance contract.
