The challenge

A legacy system that never kept up.

This working farm in the off-grid community of Sunflower — chickens, goats, and seven full-time residents — ran on a legacy solar system the local utility had installed as a test project. It never kept up, and the LP generator carried the site nearly 75% of the time.

What we built

A new system in a dedicated power shed.

NewGrid designed and built a completely new power system housed in a dedicated, temperature-controlled power shed: 15 kW of solar, 75 kWh of Pytes lithium storage, and a 15 kW Sol-Ark inverter.

System specs
  • 15 kW solar
  • 75 kWh Pytes V5 lithium iron phosphate battery
  • 15 kW Sol-Ark inverter
  • 24 kW LP generator
  • 120/240V split phase
The outcome

Triple the power, minimal generator use.

The farm has tripled its electrical consumption, added air conditioning, and runs year-round with minimal generator use — with room left for expansion.
