Off-Grid Solar for Eco-Resorts: Powering Paradise Without the Grid

Bulletproof for the operator, invisible to the guest, on sites the grid never reached.

An outage at a resort isn't an inconvenience. It's a one-star review. That's the whole challenge of powering remote hospitality: the system has to be invisible to the guest and bulletproof for the operator, on a site the grid never reached.

The Job

The loads are real and the site is brutal.

A lodge or island resort has to run guest rooms, a commercial kitchen, water, and climate control, often for dozens of guests and a full staff. And the location is usually the hardest part: thirty miles offshore, or reachable only by seaplane. You're solving the engineering and the logistics at the same time.
Islas Secas

A 2 MWh island off Panama.

Thirty miles off the Pacific coast sits an eco-resort, featured in outlets like Condé Nast Traveler, that runs entirely off-grid. When it opened in 2018, an undersized lead-acid battery bank capped what the island could operate. NewGrid came in first as consultants, then installed 2 megawatt-hours of lithium storage in two stages, turning it into one of the largest private off-grid microgrids in Central America. It powers dozens of villas and a staff of 150, with expansion already underway.
Judd Lake

A lodge you can only fly into.

At Judd Lake, a forty-minute seaplane ride from Anchorage, we built a backcountry ski-and-fishing lodge's power system around a supercapacitor storage bank suited to the Alaskan wilderness.
Castle Hot Springs

A retreat built to grow.

In the mountains near Lake Pleasant, we designed, permitted, and built a fully off-grid system for a wellness center, with the capacity to expand as the property does.
The Pattern

Guest-grade, wherever the site is.

Across all three: island and backcountry systems designed for guest-grade reliability, backed by operations-and-maintenance contracts so problems get caught before they become an outage anyone notices. The reach to build where standard installers won't go. And systems designed to scale as a property adds rooms and amenities. Reliable power stops being a risk and becomes part of the experience.
